TAIPEI (Taiwan News)—The Central Weather Administration (CWA) predicts a fourth tropical storm in the Western Pacific will likely form on Monday (Nov. 11).
CWA forecaster Chang Cheng-chuan (張承傳) told CNA that by 8 p.m. a tropical depression (TD29) near Guam could strengthen into Usagi, the 25th tropical storm of the year. Chang predicted Usagi would move toward the northeastern seas off Luzon Island before Thursday, though its later path remains uncertain.
If Usagi forms, it will be the fourth tropical cyclone active in the Western Pacific, joining Tropical Storm Yinxing, Typhoon Toraji, and Tropical Storm Man-yi.
Chang predicted the northeast monsoon would strengthen Tuesday and continue until early Wednesday morning, bringing lows around 23 C across Taiwan. The north and northeast will see 24-25 C highs, while central and southern regions will remain around 30 C.
Chang said the northeast monsoon and Typhoon Toraji's outer bands would bring rain to the northeast and east and showers to the north, south, southeast, and mountainous regions.
On Thursday, the east and Hengchun Peninsula will see showers. On Friday, the north, east, Hengchun Peninsula, and the mountains of central and southern regions could see scattered showers.
