TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang (江啟臣) said on Sunday (Nov. 10) that he is embarking on a trip to the US and France.
Chiang will first stop in Florida for two days to attend the 37th joint board and supervisors meeting of the North American Taiwan Chambers of Commerce Association in Fort Lauderdale, CNA reported. He will also meet with US representatives to exchange views and gain insight into local perspectives on the recent election and its potential impacts on Taiwan.
Afterward, he will head to France to lead a Legislative Yuan delegation at the invitation of the French Senate. Chiang said the group would discuss international participation and disinformation with French lawmakers. The two sides will also seek further bilateral cooperation opportunities.
Chiang emphasized that this delegation reflects the parliamentary diplomatic ties between the French Senate and Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan. Over the past two years, both sides have built a foundation of mutual trust and cooperation through regular exchanges, he said.
Through parliamentary diplomacy, Chiang believes the Legislative Yuan can build more international friendships, showcase the warmth and sincerity of the Taiwanese, and continue to advocate for Taiwan on the global stage.
