TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) forecasts that Tropical Storm Usagi (天兔) will come closest to Taiwan by the end of the week.
At 2 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 13), the CWA said Usagi was 1,200 km southeast of Eluanbi. The CWA forecasts Usagi will move into the Bashi Channel on Thursday and closest to Taiwan early Friday morning to Sunday.
During this period, the CWA predicts Usagi will bring rain to the east and Hengchun Peninsula and occasional showers to the north, south, and central mountainous regions. The rest of the country will see mostly cloudy skies.
The weather bureau said Usagi could become a moderate typhoon as it nears Taiwan. The CWA may issue a sea warning on Thursday, but whether a land warning will be issued is still uncertain.
