TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — E-commerce company Momo opened its new south Taiwan distribution center in Tainan on Wednesday (Nov. 20).
With an investment of over NT$3 billion (US$92.28 million), the center is the largest warehouse in the south of the country, per CNA. The company said it is expected to ship more than 50 million items annually and create over 500 jobs.
Momo added the center will speed up delivery services covering Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung. This will balance the order volume between the north and south, reducing consumer waiting times.
The center has a total floor area of approximately 24,500 ping (one ping equals 3.3 square meters), with six floors and one underground floor, per UDN. It can accommodate over 3.4 million items, with a daily throughput of up to 160,000 items.
Additionally, the facility incorporates green building concepts, such as installing over 3,000 ping of solar panels on the roof and using a tunnel wind system for cooling.
