TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan beat the United States 8-2 in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 Super Round at Tokyo Dome on Friday (Nov. 22).
The offense was sparked by Chang Cheng-yu’s (張政禹) double, bringing in the first run, per CNA. Pan Chieh-kai (潘楷楷) also hit a home run while Chiang Kun-yu (江坤宇) hit a three-RBI triple.
“The players executed our strategy,” team manager Tseng Hao-jiu (曾豪駒) said. “They trust each other and have been supporting each other through these tournaments.”
The game marks the first time in 21 years that Taiwan has beaten the US. The medal games are scheduled for Sunday (Nov. 24).
