TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – During a tour of Europe, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said Friday (Nov. 22) there would soon be direct flights between Taiwan and Poland.
The transportation links would deepen trade and economic ties between the two countries, Lin told a lunch meeting with business leaders in Warsaw. He did not specify when the flights would start, per CNA.
The minister said he wanted to let European nations understand how Taiwan shared common values, while helping to explore new avenues for cooperation and trade.
Representatives of major Taiwanese corporations, including Foxconn Technology Group, Chunghwa Telecom, and Chimei Corporation, also attended the lunch in Warsaw.
Polish officials emphasized how the country was mostly interested in cars and batteries 10 years ago, attracting investors from Japan and South Korea. At present however, the Central European country is focused on AI and semiconductors, making Taiwan an indispensable partner, according to trade officials.
