TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The 61st Golden Horse Awards will be held in Taipei on Saturday night (Nov. 23) in which talents from Taiwan, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, and other places will be recognized for excellence in film.
The ceremony for Taiwan’s premier Chinese language film awards show will be held at the Taipei Music Center where 26 awards will be presented. The show will be hosted by Liu Kuan-ting (劉冠廷) who in 2019 won a Golden Horse award for his role in the Taiwanese drama film “A Sun,” per CNA.
The Taiwanese film “Dead Talents Society” is in the running for 11 awards, the most nominations for a work in this year. Filmmaker John Hsu (徐漢強) is up for the Best Director Award, and the work has also been nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, Best Art Direction, and other awards.
The 2024 Golden Horse Awards also mark the first time a Thai actor has been considered for the Best Actor category.
Thailand's Wanlop Rungkumjad is nominated for the prize for his role in Singaporean filmmaker Chiang Wei-liang’s (曾威量) film “Mongrel.” Rungkumjad will compete for the prize against Taiwanese actors King Jieh-wen (喜翔), Chang Chen (張震), and Zhang Zhi-yong (張志勇), as well as Hong Kong’s Yau Hawk-sau (游學修.)
Taiwan’s Sylvia Chang (張艾嘉) will compete against fellow Taiwanese Kimi Hsia (夏于喬), and Hong Kong’s Au Ga-man (區嘉雯), Chung Suet-ying (鍾雪瑩), and Sandra Ng (吳君如) for the Best Actress prize.
