TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Legislative Deputy Speaker Johnny Chiang (江啟臣) departed for Malaysia on Saturday (Nov. 30) to engage with Taiwanese business representatives.
The Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce invited Chiang. He said the Legislative Yuan has supported Taiwanese businesses abroad, adding that he hopes to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese investment in the country, CNA reported. He also wished to strengthen bilateral trade relations while exploring new business opportunities.
During the visit, Chiang will tour Taiwanese schools and businesses, and exchange views with the Taiwanese community in Malaysia.
The deputy legislative speaker pointed out the long-standing and close trade relations between Taiwan and Malaysia. Since Malaysia began relaxing foreign investment policies and offering incentives in 1987, there has been a significant increase in Taiwanese investments.
Chiang’s delegation comprises 16 legislators, including those from the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee.
