TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) CEO Lisa Su (蘇姿丰) was named Friday on the Financial Times’ 25 most influential women of the year list, with a brief profile penned by former President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文).
Su made the unranked list of 25 influential women alongside Taylor Swift, Kamala Harris, Charli XCX, and Ursula von der Leyen. In Su’s profile, Tsai described her as a role model and “an example of perseverance and strength who inspires us all."
Financial Times editor Roula Khalaf said the list was compiled by the outlet’s journalists, readers, and industry leaders. “This year we celebrate women who are remaking the world we live in today,” Khalaf wrote.
Su was born in Taiwan and raised in the US. She was trained as an electrical engineer and took charge of AMD in 2014.
Under Su’s leadership, AMD’s market capitalization increased from US$5.5 billion (NT$178.25 billion) to US$220 billion, per Bloomberg. Su said in an earnings forecast this year that AMD’s growth would be mainly driven by its artificial intelligence business.
