TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Jay Chou (周杰倫), the "King of Mandopop," concluded his five-year "Carnival World Tour" with four dates at the Taipei Dome, culminating on Sunday.
For the final concert, Chou invited the band Mayday (五月天) on stage to perform. Famous model Lin Chi-ling (林志玲) and Japanese entertainer Yamashita Tomohisa were also spotted in the audience, per CT Want.
At the end of the concert, Chou became emotional and said, "I hope it won't be another seven years before I perform again next time." Fans in the audience shared his emotion, with many refusing to leave the venue long after the show concluded.
Chou's tour kicked off in 2019 and was interrupted by COVID-19. It was eventually restarted, covering 82 dates across Asia and Europe with the final four shows in Taipei.

Chou's last performance in Taipei was at the Taipei Arena in 2017 with “The Invincible Tour.”
When the Taipei Dome tickets went on sale at the end of October, all 150,000 tickets sold out within five minutes, with scalpers charging as much as NT$300,000 (US$9,350) for a ticket.
Chou expressed his gratitude for the chance to perform in front of hometown fans. "Thank you for accompanying me while we break in a new venue.” Chou joked that with the Taipei Dome available to him, he no longer has any interest in performing in the much smaller Taipei Arena.
