TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Economics Minister Kuo Jyh-huei (郭智輝) and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed an economic and industrial cooperation agreement Monday to deepen bilateral ties in technology and energy.
Kuo said in a press release that trade between Taiwan and Oklahoma has grown steadily since 2016. The two sides will enhance trade, investment, and industrial development cooperation, including semiconductors, drones, artificial intelligence, and energy.
“Oklahoma’s leadership in technology and aerospace makes it a vital trade partner for Taiwan,” Kuo said.
Stitt said Oklahoma is a US drone industry hub with comprehensive infrastructure, skilled labor, and abundant natural resources such as oil, natural gas, and wind power. “The state will continue simplifying regulations and reducing taxes to create a sound investment environment,” the governor said.
According to the Cabinet, Taiwan ranked as the US's eighth-largest trade partner in 2023, with the trade volume reaching NT$4.14 trillion (US$127.5 billion).
Kuo pledged the government would help Taiwanese businesses explore overseas markets. He added the economic ministry is promoting bilateral cooperation to improve supply chain efficiency and productivity.
