TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The United Kingdom’s travel magazine, Wanderlust, announced this year’s travel awards, with Taiwan winning “The Most Desirable Island” for the second consecutive year.
Tourism Administration said the UK is the top source of European tourists visiting Taiwan. From January to October this year, nearly 290,000 European tourists visited Taiwan, with approximately 60,000 coming from the UK.
The administration told CNA Wednesday (Dec. 11) that Taiwan tourism advertisements were displayed at London's Paddington and Victoria stations in September and October.
Additionally, the administration partnered with London taxi operators to launch cab advertisements. Fifty taxis featuring Taiwan tourism ads cruised through London’s popular areas, including Oxford Street, Regent Street, and Trafalgar Square.
The Taipei Representative Office in the UK and Taiwanese food producers hosted a cocktail event to mark the occasion, featuring Taiwanese products such as Kavalan whisky, gin, and bubble tea.
Filipino and South Korean influencers based in the UK, Earl and Sean, also attended the event, saying it helped promote Taiwan’s tourism.
They added they had visited Taiwan multiple times and particularly enjoyed Taiwanese foods such as xiaolongbao, chicken fillet, scallion pancakes, and braised pork rice.
