TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A cold front predicted to move southward on Saturday could bring snow to Taiwan's high mountains.
The Central Weather Administration said a continental cold air mass will arrive from the north on Saturday sending temperatures plunging across the country, per CNA. Although the cold air is expected to weaken slightly on Monday, ice and snow are likely at high elevations.
The CWA forecast that starting Saturday, roads above 3,000 meters could be icy at night.
Localized showers are expected in the northern coast of Keelung, the east, and mountainous regions of the west. Other regions will see mostly cloudy conditions.
Temperatures will range from 11 C to 17 C in the north, 12 C to 21 C in the center, and 14 C to 22 C in the south. Also, 12 C to 16 C in the northeast, 14 C to 19 C in the east, and 16 C to 21 C in the southeast. Penghu will range between 15 C and 19 C, Kinmen 11 C to 17 C, and Matsu 10 C to 13 C.
