TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Delta Electronics inaugurated its net-zero laboratory at Tainan Plant 2 on Thursday.
The Neihu-based electronics manufacturer said the lab is Taiwan’s first MW-level water electrolysis hydrogen production and hydrogen fuel cell testing platform, per CNA. Delta Electronics aims to collaborate with Taiwanese industry partners to promote the local supply chain and develop hydrogen solutions, it said.
Delta Electronics Founder and Chair Cheng Ping (鄭平) said in the face of climate change, reducing carbon emissions has become a consensus in the international community. Hydrogen energy is a key direction in energy transition, he added.
Cheng explained that hydrogen energy’s low carbon emission characteristics make it suitable for transportation, manufacturing, and long-term energy storage.
Additionally, Delta Electronics has invested in developing solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology. The company said this helps clients create low-carbon energy solutions.
In January, Delta Electronics announced a collaboration with UK hydrogen energy company Ceres. They signed a technology transfer and licensing agreement for hydrogen energy battery stacks.
