TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — In a sign of the growing partnership between Netflix and the Taiwan film industry, the company recently hosted a three-day production workshop for filmmakers in Taipei.
Producers involved in some of Netflix’s most successful Taiwanese productions gathered to collaborate and share best practices on filmmaking in the modern global era. According to a press release from Netflix, more than 30 filmmakers took part in the three-day event.
Netflix hopes the workshop will provide greater networking and cooperation among the community of filmmaking professionals in Taiwan and optimize the production process for future projects.
Workshops and collaborative exercises covered issues like procuring equipment, budgeting, and legal issues. Group exercises also included real-time simulations to test the adaptability and cooperative instincts of the filmmakers.
Vivien Tan of Netflix’s publicity division for Southeast Asia said that as a highly-competitive market for TV and film production, levelling up production practices will spur growth locally. She said that the workshop serves as a “testament to Netflix’s commitment to the local creative economy.”
