TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Pegatron obtained the Science Based Targets initiative climate target certification on Friday.
The electronics manufacturer said in a press release that carbon reduction is not only an important responsibility for global sustainability but also a key strategy for competition, per CNA. Established in 2015, SBTi is an international collaboration that sets practical steps to combat climate change.
Since last year, Pegatron has been working with 30 major suppliers to promote carbon reduction. This collaboration aims to improve supply chain manufacturers’ carbon reduction capabilities, the company explained.
Pegatron said it is estimated that 15,000 tons of carbon emissions can be reduced in two years, accelerating the supply chain’s low-carbon transition, per Anue.
Pegatron added it plans to expand its cooperation with major global suppliers by hosting a pledge conference at the end of December. Key suppliers and professional consultants will be invited to share carbon reduction achievements and plans.
