TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A cold front could send the mercury below 10 C on Wednesday evening when snow is possible on high mountains.
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said that as a continental cold air mass moves south, the north and northeast will turn wet and cold Wednesday and Thursday. Early mornings and evenings in central and southern regions will also become colder.
Wu predicted that although temperatures may briefly rebound on Friday, another wave of strong cold air is expected to move southward starting Saturday afternoon, with morning lows in some lowland areas forecast to drop below 10 C.

The Central Weather Administration Wednesday issued an orange cold surge advisory for the temperature remaining around 10 C in Keelung, Taipei, and New Taipei. It released a yellow cold surge alert for low temperatures dropping below 10 C in Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, and Kinmen County.
Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) said the cold front will coincide with another wave of moisture bringing a chance of frost, rime, and isolated snowfall from Wednesday evening to early Thursday morning in mountainous areas around 2,000 meters in northern Taiwan and Yilan. Lin said snow is also possible on mountains over 3,000 meters in central Taiwan.
