TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Economic Affairs said Friday that November export orders reached NT$52.27 billion (US$1.6 billion), a 3.3% year-on-year increase.
According to a press release, export orders for the first 11 months of this year were US$536.62 billion, up 3.7% from the same period last year, per CNA.
However, due to conservative demand for mobile phones, information and communication product orders fell to US$15.82 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%.
Traditional goods saw mechanical product orders grow by 6% year-on-year due to semiconductor manufacturers expanding advanced process capacity. Orders for plastic and rubber products grew by 4% year-on-year as downstream customers replenished inventory.
Basic metals and chemicals orders declined by 6.3% and 1.3% year-on-year, respectively, due to overseas competitors' overcapacity and low-price competition.
