TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Economics Minister Kuo Jyh-huei (郭智輝) attended the opening of the Taiwan Trade and Investment Service Center in the Czech Republic and visited Dresden, the site of a future TSMC fab.
Reports said Saturday the visits followed meetings in Brussels with senior trade and industry officials at the European Union headquarters. In Germany, Kuo met with the premier of the state of Saxony and with the mayor of Dresden to deepen his understanding of investment conditions for the TSMC supply chain, the Liberty Times reported.
In Prague, he witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding to boost business development between the two countries. He also attended the launch of the first overseas trade and investment service center since taking office in May.
The Czech Republic has the research facilities, human resources talent, industrial infrastructure, and scientific capabilities required to foster cooperation with Taiwan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said. The Central European country is a positive choice for businesses from Taiwan looking to establish a foothold in the EU, according to the minister.
