TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The organizers of the New Year's Eve fireworks extravaganza at Taipei 101 have released a video preview.
In a press release on Dec. 13, Taipei 101 announced this year's theme is "Team Taiwan Champion," inspired by the national baseball team's historic WBSC Premier12 championship victory. On Monday, Taipei 101 chairperson Janet Chia (賈永婕) said this year's display would consist of over 16,000 fireworks and run six minutes, one minute longer than last year, per TVBS.
In addition, Chia said the event will feature a large-scale light projection show sponsored by Cathay United Bank for the first time. “The light projection show will display images of all of Taiwan's heroes,” Chia said, keeping the specifics of the display a surprise.
The media has noted that this year’s fireworks simulation was first released on social media rather than a traditional press conference. In response, Chia said that holding a press conference is expensive, and it was better to save the money and present the event in a unique way.
Chia said she first collaborated with legislators Wang Shih-chien (王世堅) and Lai Shyh-bao (賴士葆) to produce a promotional video and adopted a method that can boost online traffic instantly.
Chia explained that she leveraged the popularity of her fan pages to boost visibility, with Taipei 101 becoming a key partner in the promotion. She said she would gradually share her traffic with the Taipei 101 social media pages.
