TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration said Monday’s lowest temperatures were 9.9 C in Hsinchu’s Emei Township and 7.3 C in Miaoli’s Sanwan Township, CNA reported.
National Central University Atmospheric Sciences Department Associate Professor Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said the cold air will weaken on Monday. He forecast scattered rain in western Taiwan and brief showers in the east.
Wu said Wednesday's weather will warm up, with mostly sunny skies across the nation and brief showers in the east.
Wu said that a cold front will arrive from Thursday to Sunday, with temperatures dropping to 13-14 C. Sunday is expected to be the coldest day, with northern areas reaching 7 C, per Yahoo News.
Wu added that brief showers are expected in the north and northeast on Thursday and Friday, with rain easing from Saturday.
Wu noted temperatures will rise on Dec. 30 and 31, with clear skies and large temperature differences between day and night.
