TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — German violinist Kolja Blacher will perform in Taiwan next January.
The recitals are scheduled for Jan. 12 at National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts and Jan. 13 at Taipei’s National Concert Hall. The program features pieces such as Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Sonata No. 1 for Solo Violin in G Minor,” “Partita No. 3 in E Major,” and “Partita No. 2 in D Minor,” per CNA.
Blacher began studying violin at age 4. At 15, he attended New York’s Juilliard School under renowned pedagogue Dorothy DeLay.
He continued his training in Austria's Salzburg with violinist and conductor Sandor Vegh, merging American and Austrian musical traditions.
He served as Berlin Philharmonic concertmaster before transitioning to a solo career. The concertmaster is an orchestra's most skilled and knowledgeable violinist, serving as the primary liaison between the musicians and the conductor, per Berklee.
Blacher said his upcoming performances in Taiwan will be fulfilling and rewarding.
