TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan External Trade Development Council Chair James Huang (黃志芳) said that Taiwan Expo will be hosted in Dallas, Texas August next year.
TAITRA at a press conference said Texas is the second-largest state in the US and an economic leader of the south, per CNA. In 2023, Texas imported nearly NT$314 billion (US$9.6 billion) of products from Taiwan, including integrated and printed circuits, it said.
Huang said next year’s keyword will be “Trump 2.0.” He emphasized the need to work with businesses to face challenges posed by the new administration.
Regarding the New Southbound countries, Huang said that next year, Taiwan Expo will be held in India, the Philippines, and Malaysia. India, the world’s fifth-largest economy, is of interest to Taiwanese businesses.
Huang said due to supply chain restructuring and weak domestic demand in China, Taiwan’s export share to China fell to 20.5% in the first 11 months of this year, while exports to the US accounted for 23.5%.
However, China remains an important trade partner and Donald Trump’s policies will need to be monitored, he added.
