TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Temperatures in Taiwan are set to drop significantly over the weekend.
The Central Weather Administration issued a cold surge advisory for Saturday and predicted temperatures below 10 C in Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, and Yilan County.
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said the cold front would bring dry air southward, leading to clear and cold weather. Temperatures could drop to around 6 C, he added.
Wu said the weather is not likely to affect New Year's Eve activities. In the east, there is a chance of brief, localized rain. Even so, Wu predicted the sunrise should still be visible in most areas.
