TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — To ring in 2025 central venues in major cities across Taiwan will offer New Year's Eve fireworks.
New Taipei’s “Shining New Taipei 1314 Cross-River Fireworks” will launch at 8:25 p.m., making it the earliest fireworks display. At midnight, the internationally renowned Taipei 101 fireworks will take center stage, accompanied by Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Taitung.
New Taipei
At Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, Customs Wharf, and Bali Left Bank, over 30,000 fireworks will illuminate the Tamsui River for 13 minutes and 14 seconds. The international headline act, Super Junior's subunit L.S.S. (Leeteuk, Shindong, and Siwon), will then perform an exclusive concert.
The New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Bureau has planned a 4K live stream of the event from Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf through its "New Taipei Tour" YouTube channel.
Taipei
This year's theme for Taipei 101's fireworks is "Team Taiwan Champion," inspired by the WBSC Premier12 championship victory. The display will consist of over 16,000 fireworks and run for six minutes.
In addition, the event will feature a large-scale light projection show sponsored by Cathay United Bank for the first time. Live performances include South Korean band Apink, cheerleading team Dragon Beauties, and dance group HRC Beast Crew Shadow.
Hsinchu
Hsinchu and Hsinchu County will hold a joint New Year's Eve party at 6 p.m. in front of Hsinchu County Hall in Zhubei City. Featuring five hosts and 13 star-studded performers, including Ding Dang and Ozone as the finale, the event will culminate in a 5-minute fireworks show.
Taichung
Central Park
Taichung’s New Year’s Eve celebration takes place at Central Park in Xitun District, headlined by Golden Melody Award winner Tanya Chua (蔡健雅), alongside K-pop star Wheein of Mamamoo, and popular local bands like Accusefive and Nine One One. Over 15 artists will perform, leading to a 3-minute fireworks show during the final countdown.
It kicks off at 6 p.m. and will last seven hours. As Taiwan's largest outdoor concert venue, Taichung Central Park saw a record 240,000 people flocking to the venue on New Year's Eve last year and won the internet traffic championship for the fourth consecutive year according to the Taichung tourism bureau.
Lihpao Land
For the ninth year, Lihpao Land's New Year's Eve concert will offer a "tourist vacation-style New Year's Eve party" that combines entertainment and accommodations. The event features Taiwan’s largest Ferris wheel sound and light animation show on the Sky Dream Ferris Wheel, complemented by a 270-degree fireworks display.
Kaohsiung
The Dream Mall in Cianjhen District will host the "Yiwu Starry Sea Voyage” featuring a 250-second fireworks display synchronized with Bruno Mars’s iconic song “Just the Way You Are.” Paired with the rainbow lighting of the Dream Mall Ferris wheel, the harbor fireworks will be displayed in three chapters that will culminate with hearts and smiley faces.
Tainan
Tainan's New Year's Eve party will take place at the city government's civic center in Anping District from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. The evening's performances will be headlined by South Korean star Lee Jun-ho, while also featuring Japan's rising girl group @onefive, girl band Genblue, and pop band AcQUA.
The pyrotechnics displayed will be based on the Year of the Snake, last 180 seconds, and showcase nearly 3,000 fireworks. The event marks the final day of Tainan's 400th anniversary celebrations.
Taitung
Taitung’s New Year’s Eve party will be held at Haibin Park from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The night's lineup of performers will include pop singer Tarcy Su (蘇慧倫), singer Irene Yeh (葉璦菱), rap group MJ116, jazz singer Joanna Wang (王若琳), rapper MC HotDog, and 2023 Golden Melody best new artist award winner Hung Pei-yu (洪佩瑜).
The festivities will end with a 240-second display featuring over 10,000 fireworks.
