TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn’s Hon Hai Research Institute said Monday it used AI to develop third-generation semiconductor silicon carbide power components.
The institute said in a press release that it worked with its AI and semiconductor research centers to integrate AI learning models in materials research. Silicon carbide is a compound of silicon and carbon used in semiconductors.
This technology not only simulates and adjusts process parameters but also significantly shortens component development, the institute explained, per CNA.
The institute used proximal policy optimization algorithms to optimize process parameters and component designs of silicon carbide. Unlike traditional methods that predict results from multiple parameter values, the institute used AI for reverse prediction.
The institute’s findings were published in the IEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics.
