TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Culture said Thursday it will work with concert organizers to fight ticket scalping.
The ministry said in a press release that since the Development of the Cultural and Creative Industries Act was amended in May last year, it has received approximately 8,000 scalping complaints.
In response, the ministry said it contacted organizers to use real-name ticketing, with 80 concerts adopting the system, per CNA. In December, it hosted a meeting with city governments to exchange views and find solutions.
Taipei City Government said it is considering trialing venue rental discounts for real-name ticketing at Taipei Arena. Kaohsiung City Government also expressed interest.
The top three events with the highest number of complaints were held in venues with over 10,000 seats, including Taipei Dome, Taipei Arena, and Kaohsiung National Stadium.
