TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Super Micro Computer Inc. and Guo Rui announced plans on Dec. 25 to construct a computing center powered solely with renewable energy.
At a meeting with Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰), Super Micro President and CEO Charles Liang (梁見後) and Guo Rui Chair Lin Po-wen (林博文) announced plans to build a “pure green energy” computing center, per Liberty Times.
Liang and Lin reportedly aim to establish Taiwan as a key international hub for the computing power and green energy industries, per CNews.
The collaboration covers Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung.
Lin said Guo Rui plans to support the project with annual green energy generation of 3.5 billion kilowatt-hours. He added the partnership marks an important milestone for Guo Rui Green Energy.
Lin said that through the partnership with Super Micro, Taiwan's international competitiveness will be strengthened. He added more job opportunities will be created.
On Dec. 26, Cabinet Spokesperson Michelle Lee (李慧芝) said that during the meeting, Cho thanked Super Micro for supporting the government’s 2019 action plan for accelerated investment by domestic corporations. Lee also commended the company’s global influence.
Lee said the government is optimistic about multinational investment cooperation.
