TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The first snowfall of 2025 was recorded on Yushan on Thursday.
The Central Weather Administration said that due to the strengthening of the northeast monsoon and the northward movement of a cloud system, Yushan weather station observed rain mixed with ice pellets on Thursday morning. By 8:40 p.m., snow began to fall on the mountain.
The snow stopped at 9:15 p.m. At 3:16 a.m. Friday, the temperature at the weather station dropped to minus 1.6 C.

It began snowing again at 6 a.m. The CWA also predicted that early Friday morning, there was a chance of snowfall on mountains above 3,500 meters in central and northern regions.
Mountain temperatures are expected to remain low in the coming days, potentially leading to icy conditions. Roads may be slippery, so caution is advised during outdoor activities.
The CWA's Facebook page shared some footage of snow on Yushan Friday morning.
