TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The “Powerchip 2025 Classic Series - NSO Paul Huang & Friends” chamber music series will feature four performances from Thursday to Sunday in Taipei and Yunlin.
Violinist Paul Huang (黃俊文), after two years of success with the series, will collaborate with a distinguished group of international classical music artists and National Symphony Orchestra musicians. This group includes violinist Kevin Lin (林冠羽), violist Cynthia Phelps, cellist Maximilian Hornung, trumpeter Gabor Boldoczki, and pianist Anne-Marie McDermott.
“Opening Night – Concerto Grosso” is set for Thursday at Taipei’s National Concert Hall, while Yunlin’s Ensemble Hall will host “Romantic Twilight” on Friday. Both “Dedication” and “Romantic Twilight” will be performed on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at the National Concert Hall.
The series includes Baroque concerti grossi, while “Dedication” highlights three works crafted as heartfelt tributes to loved ones, Huang noted. “Romantic Twilight” features three unique chamber music masterpieces from the Romantic era.
Taiwanese-American violinist Kevin Lin, a close collaborator and guest concertmaster for the NSO's European tour last year, will perform in two concerts. Lin said he was excited to continue this musical camaraderie, noting that working in a chamber music setting offers a unique chance to refine skills that enhance symphonic performances.
Hungarian trumpeter Gabor Boldoczki will perform on Thursday and Sunday. Boldoczki expressed his excitement about performing in Taiwan and collaborating with a group of talented musicians for the event.
Boldoczki shared his enthusiasm for showcasing trumpet chamber music, a relatively rare genre. He said the programs will include two Telemann works along with French composer Blavet's "Flute Concerto in A minor" and Saint-Saens' “Septet for trumpet, strings and piano in E-flat major, Op.65.”
