TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Chiayi County is creating a stir at the Thai International Travel Fair because of a report in the New York Times recommending Alishan, reports said Wednesday.
The US newspaper listed the mountainous national park area as 19th on the list of the world’s 52 top travel destinations recently. As a result, tourism professionals at the Bangkok fair were eager to collect information about the region, per CNA.
The main theme of the county’s booth was the mountains and forests of Alishan throughout the four seasons of the year. Chiayi County’s tourism service showed documentaries introducing the charm of the region to a Thai viewership.
Activities of interest featured at the event included riding the forest railway, watching the sunrise, picking tea leaves at tea plantations, and visiting the villages of the Indigenous Tsou population.
