TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) will attend the opening of a new Siliconware Precision Industries Co., Ltd. factory in Taichung on Thursday, according to media reports.
It will be Huang's first Taiwan visit this year, per CNA. In its media invitations, SPIL said it had invited him to visit the new plant in Tanzi District at 4 p.m. with Chair Tsai Chi-wen (蔡祺文). The company is one of the world’s leading integrated circuit packagers and testers and is controlled by ASE Technology Holding Co.
Observers will be watching whether Huang makes any comments about a location for Nvidia’s overseas headquarters, though he said he might reveal the site during Computex in June. Speculation by media and government ministers focused on areas in Taipei that could be suitable for a high-tech enterprise.
Huang might also discuss the mass production of GB200 servers expected to start this year by companies including Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology Group. Cooperation between Nvidia and SPIL aims to address a shortage in chips needed for AI sector development, the Liberty Times reported.
