TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Tourism Administration's London Office made its exhibition debut at the Matka Travel Fair, the largest Nordic travel exhibition, from Thursday to Sunday.
The fair was held at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre in Finland. It attracted 56,000 participants from about 70 countries this year, per CNA.
The Taiwan booth presented traditional cuisine, natural landscapes, and Indigenous art. It also featured a Taiwanese night market marble game, which was popular among visitors.
London Office Director Lin Yu-shan (林毓珊) said Finnish visitors expressed interest in Taiwan's mountain trekking, birdwatching, cycling, and camping. With 5,000 annual visitors to Taiwan and strong purchasing power, the market holds significant promise for development, Lin said.
Taiwan’s envoy in Finland Chang Hsiu-chen (張秀禎) also attended the fair. She expressed hope for continued cultural, economic, and tourism exchanges between Taiwan and Finland to strengthen bilateral understanding.
Lin said that during the exhibition, the office engaged with more than 10 tourism operators and airlines, including Finnair and Emirates Airlines. She aims to attract more Nordic tourists to Taiwan through collaboration.
In November, the administration held a promotional event in Stockholm. With approximately 10,000 annual visitors, Sweden leads the Nordic countries in tourist arrivals to Taiwan.
