TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taipei International Comic and Animation Festival will return for its 13th iteration next month at Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1.
Hosted by Taiwan’s Chinese Animation and Comic Publishers Association, 480,000 visitors are expected to attend, per CNA. Organizers said the five-day event could generate NT$250 million (US$7.6 million) in business opportunities.
Last year, the festival attracted 470,000 attendees over five days and generated NT$200 million in revenue.
This year, the convention invited Hidaka Noriko, the voice of Satsuki Kusakabe in Studio Ghibi’s “My Neighbor Totoro,” as a guest. In a video recording on Jan 3., the voice actress said the last time she visited Taiwan was 12 years ago.
Hidaka noted her fans’ enthusiasm and support and said she looks forward to coming back.
Also on the guest list is Wakayama Shion, the voice of Momo Ayase in the anime “Dandadan.” Aired last year and returning for a second season, the fantasy anime centers on schoolmates Momo and Ken Takakura and their battles against demons.
The convention will be held from Feb. 6-10. More information can be found here.
