TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Books.com.tw, also known as Pok’elai, will debut its first e-reader at the Taipei International Book Exhibition next month.
The online bookstore said the e-reader features E Ink’s latest Kaleido 3 panel and patented FastGLR technology to reduce ghosting, which is when an image leaves a trail of blurred pixels, per CNA. The device includes 4 GB RAM, 64 GB of storage, a note-taking function, and a 2,500 mAh battery.
Pre-orders will begin at the book show on Feb. 4. Demo units will be provided for attendees to try out.
According to a company press release, the platform had over 12 million registered members by the end of last year. It said that one in 10 members had used its e-book service.
Over the past eight years, its e-book business has maintained double-digit growth, with a growth rate of nearly 20% in 2024.
The online bookstore said it improved its app’s reading experience, launched a new unlimited reading service for business magazines, and introduced a subscription-based audiobook service in September 2024.
These initiatives boosted its subscription numbers by over 70% year-on-year and app downloads by 50% compared to 2023, the company added.
