TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — United Microelectronics Corporation founder Robert Tsao (曹興誠) launched the "Anti-Communist Volunteers Taiwan Protection League" (反共護台志工聯盟) on Wednesday in Taipei.
The new organization will promote pro-recall efforts by uniting recall groups and pro-Taiwan organizations, per Newtalk.
Tsao criticized the infighting between the ruling DPP and opposition KMT, suggesting that it was part of a broader strategy by the CCP to destabilize Taiwan. He argued that the CCP is Taiwan’s real enemy and accused the DPP of ignoring the public’s call for mass recall campaigns, portraying the party as a “puppet” of the KMT.
Tsao further claimed that the KMT’s pro-China stance and its alleged ambitions to betray Taiwan were widely recognized internationally. He urged the public to push for the recall of KMT legislators and resist pressure from the CCP.
Taiwan Society South President Weng Ming-jang (翁銘章) also criticized the KMT's ties to the CCP. He questioned why KMT caucus whip Fu Kun-chi (傅崐萁) would lead a group of new legislators to China for a meeting with a CCP official.
Weng suggested that such meetings were part of a broader “red agenda” to undermine Taiwan’s sovereignty, specifically citing several controversial amendments and the recently passed 2025 budget as evidence of the KMT’s alleged collaboration with the CCP. He expressed gratitude to those organizing recall efforts across Taiwan and vowed to oppose KMT and TPP legislators, whom he labeled as “CCP puppets.”
Lin I-cheng (林宜正), vice chair of the Taiwan New Constitution Foundation, also spoke in favor of the recall efforts. He emphasized that exercising civic rights was the last line of defense against the collusion between the KMT and the TPP.
In response, KMT Taipei City Councillor Liu Tsai-wei (柳采葳) criticized Tsao’s push for KMT recalls, suggesting it was a retaliatory move against the Legislative Yuan’s recent cuts to funding for the Kuma Academy, per UDN. Liu argued that the recall efforts were part of the DPP’s strategy to weaken opposition influence in the legislature.
DPP Legislator and Kuma Academy President Shen Pao-yang (沈伯洋) also addressed the issue, clarifying that the budget cuts were unrelated to his organization and were instead made based on suspicions of ties, per China Times.
