TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Software company Cadence Design Systems announced Wednesday that semiconductor company MediaTek has adopted its chip designing suite Virtuoso Studio and Spectre X Simulator.
According to a press release, Virtuoso Studio, powered by the Cadence.AI Generative AI Platform, supports the entire design workflow from IC to advanced package to board layout. It provides cloud-ready and integrated solutions to speed up design.
Spectre X Simulator runs on Nvidia’s H100 Tensor Core GPU based on its Hopper architecture. Coupled with new hardware, it uses the latest mathematical solving techniques to design analog circuits.
MediaTek Corporate Vice President Ching San-wu (吳慶杉) said the company needed a design solution with strong AI capabilities. “Cadence’s comprehensive automation features enhance our throughput and efficiency, enabling our designers to be 30% more productive,” he added.
Nvidia Director of Accelerated Computing Dion Harris said with Spectre X running on Hopper GPUs, companies like MediaTek can speed up complex design verification, reducing time to market.
Meanwhile on Jan. 10, MediaTek said its December revenue was NT$41.68 billion (US$1.27 million), down 7.87% month-on-month, per Anue. However, its cumulative revenue for 2024 was NT$530.58 billion, a 22.41% year-over-year increase.
