TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's Nantou County was ranked one of Asia's best destinations for fresh air by Agoda.

Agoda listed seven places in February where travelers in Asia can enjoy especially clean air. It said its ranking was based on historical PM2.5 data, per CNA.

Located in Taiwan’s Central Mountain Range, Nantou is "surrounded by mountains and lakes" and offers "a serene escape with good air quality,” the platform said. The platform highlighted the picturesque Sun Moon Lake, one of the most visited destinations in Taiwan among locals and foreigners. 

B2B Travel and Tour World added that its surroundings “feel like stepping into a painting.” Despite being a popular tourist destination, Nantou offers visitors tranquility away from the busy city. 

Among Asia's seven best fresh air destinations were Sapporo, Japan; El Nido, Philippines; Singapore; Kuching, Malaysia; Gangneung, South Korea; Nantou, Taiwan; and Koh Lipe, Thailand.
