TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A drone found the body Saturday of a Thai worker who went missing while fishing in Pingtung County four days before.
The man, aged 45, walked with a colleague over a dam on Gaoping River from the Kaohsiung end to the Pingtung side Wednesday afternoon, per CNA. As they prepared to catch fish, one of the migrant workers fell into the water and disappeared.
The emergency services sent a team of 36 rescue workers with 16 vehicles, three boats and six unmanned aerial vehicles. However, they failed to find any trace of the missing man.
On Saturday, a team from Pingtung continued the search, with a crew of 12 using four vehicles, one boat, and two drones. At 9:33 a.m., one of the drones located the missing man’s body. The rescue workers pulled him ashore at 10:20 a.m., but he showed no sign of life, according to the Pingtung Fire Department.
