TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Air Force's air defense units conducted live-fire exercises last week to verify their training and readiness.
The drills simulated real combat scenarios during both day and night operations, with troops inspecting equipment and performing radar maintenance, Military News Agency reported. They also engaged target drones using 35mm and 20mm cannons.
The exercise aimed to enhance soldiers' rapid response capabilities and firing accuracy, the report said. A unit commander surnamed Shao emphasized that modern air defense requires a multi-layered system incorporating electronic warfare and intelligence to counter aerial threats effectively.
Another officer surnamed Hsu highlighted the importance of thorough equipment and ammunition checks, stressing that proper training ensures personnel maintain rapid, precision firing capabilities under various conditions.
