TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan participated in one of the UK's largest travel exhibitions, "Destinations: The Holiday & Travel Show" in London.
The expo lasted from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, featuring over 600 tourism-related businesses and more than 70 tourism agencies. The Taiwan pavilion partnered with China Airlines, Eva Air, and UK-based travel agencies Citibond Travel and Taiwan Travel, CNA reported.
Lin Yu-shan (林毓珊), director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration's London office, said the Taiwan pavilion was the most popular this year, demonstrating Taiwan's strong appeal in the international travel market.
With the theme "Waves of Wonder," the pavilion highlighted Taiwan's diverse culture and natural beauty. It displayed Taiwan's scenic landscapes and cultural elements, such as Sun Moon Lake and Jiufen's tea houses.
Visitors were introduced to traditional Taiwanese games and cultural activities, including pinball and paper-cutting. Calligraphy masters offered personalized spring couplets, incorporating visitors' names into festive gold snake-themed designs, to ring in the Lunar New Year.
Pavilion staff also handed out small lanterns and encouraged travelers to participate in the “Taiwan the lucky land” draw for a chance to win a NT$5,000 (US$151) travel voucher after entering the country.
