TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration said Tuesday the current cold wave is expected to weaken on Wednesday, but conditions will still be chilly and damp.
CWA forecaster Chang Chun-yao (張竣堯) said cold air will be present from tonight until tomorrow morning, per CNA. In the afternoon, moisture will increase, bringing brief showers to northern and eastern Taiwan.
After nightfall, heavier rain is expected along the northern coast of Keelung and mountainous areas of Yilan. This period of increased moisture is expected to last until Friday morning.
Chang said from tonight until tomorrow morning, 11 counties and cities north of Changhua and Nantou should remain alert for localized temperatures below 10 C. In southern Taiwan and Taitung, temperatures will range from 12-15 C, with areas near mountains potentially seeing temperatures 1-2 C lower.
From tomorrow night until Friday morning, northern and central Taiwan will remain chilly, with lows between 12-14 C.
Starting Friday evening, another cold air mass will move south, with an expected intensity reaching the level of a strong continental cold air mass or even a full cold wave. This system is forecasted to impact Taiwan until Monday morning.
