TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The government's new personalized digital services platform, MyData, makes life more convenient by offering paperless and real-time personal information for several government services.
Golden Melody Award-winning vocalist Christine Hsu (許景淳) can attest to the usefulness of the government portal. In October, when preparing for a performance in the US, she was unable to obtain entry and exit information due to a passport renewal, per CNA.
Travel agents were unable to resolve her problem. However, she learned of the MyData portal and the download function for the "Certificate of Entry and Exit" provided by the Immigration Agency.
All she needed to do was enter her ID number and birthday to verify her identity. As such she was able to skip the tedious procedures of applying for the information in person at an Immigration Agency counter.
Hsu praised Taiwan's digital infrastructure, which enabled her to complete the paperwork required for her performance in the US. According to a MODA press release issued on Tuesday, Hsu’s experience is just one example of the digital services MyData offers.
According to the National Development Council press release, MyData can provide downloadable information such as household registration, national ID image, labor insurance status, property data, personal income, car registration, and so on. Such information can be transformed into a digital barcode for completing applications.
Additionally, personal data from the MyData portal can be transmitted online to other public or private institutions. Currently, there are 40 services provided by government institutions that can make use of MyData information.
Foreign residents in Taiwan can use the MyData portal but are required to confirm their identity by providing a passport or other relevant information. The website is not available in English, and while exit and entry information is available, other data access is limited.
