TOKYO (Taiwan News) — CuboAI unveiled its third-generation baby monitor in Japan, featuring significant upgrades, including Automated Height Measurement, a 2.5K QHD camera, and AI analysis that is six times faster than its predecessor.
"Japan has emerged as our largest market, and we are committed to strengthening our collaborations with local partners. To enhance customer accessibility, we are actively exploring opportunities to introduce CuboAI to physical retail stores in Japan, enabling customers to experience our product firsthand alongside online purchasing options," said CuboAI co-founder and CEO Thomas Tseng (曾志新).
On Jan. 23, CuboAI hosted a press conference in Shibuya, Tokyo, to launch its latest baby monitor in the Japanese market. The event welcomed Japanese media and local partners and featured a special appearance by Karina Maruyama, a renowned media personality and former member of Japan’s Olympic Football Team, who shared her personal experiences with the product.
"My daughter was born in 2023. Initially, my husband and I were extremely anxious about the possibility of her accidentally covering her face, which could obstruct her breathing. We felt the need to constantly monitor her around the clock to ensure her safety, which was incredibly exhausting," said Maruyama. "Thanks to CuboAI's powerful camera and advanced AI technology, it can accurately detect if my daughter is covering her face. Moreover, even in low-light conditions, the camera maintains a clear image, providing us with much-needed peace of mind."

Many parents experience anxiety over the risk of their infant accidentally covering their face during sleep, as newborns lack the motor skills to remove obstructions from their airways.
According to CuboAI data, 40% of parents worry about suffocation caused by accidental face coverings, while 50% are concerned about their baby's sleep quality, and 60% fear hypothermia or fever. This anxiety often results in frequent nighttime checks, leading to disrupted sleep and increased caregiver stress.
CuboAI was founded by a team of video and security experts with backgrounds at cybersecurity giant Trend Micro and pet camera innovator Tomofun. Leveraging their expertise in monitoring and cybersecurity, the team developed CuboAI to address these parental concerns.
The company’s product lineup includes the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor, the Sleep Sensor Pad, and the medical-grade CuboAi Smart Temp, along with software subscription services. CuboAI’s innovations have earned over 20 international awards, including the CES Innovation Awards (2020 and 2022) and Japan’s 2023 Good Design Award. With a strong digital strategy, CuboAI has rapidly expanded globally, with 80% of its revenue coming from overseas markets and over 250,000 units sold worldwide.

Recognized as a leading Taiwanese startup, CuboAI received the 2023 National Innovation Award and was selected for the prestigious "Next Big Startup" program. The company remains dedicated to ensuring infant safety worldwide.
Last year, CuboAI secured US$3.5 million in its Series B funding round. Supported by existing shareholders and new investors from the financial sector, the investment highlights CuboAI’s continued innovation and strong market potential. The capital will be used to expand the AI product line, strengthen its ecosystem, and further solidify its leadership in the baby tech sector.
Tseng explained that the funding will help CuboAI expand its ecosystem and accelerate its online and offline development. "CuboAI has evolved from a single-product brand into the core of a comprehensive baby tech ecosystem," he said. "Going forward, we will integrate a diversified range of smart parenting products and services, helping parents globally to raise their children with more precision and care."
Dominating the Japanese market
CuboAI's rapid international expansion has been especially successful in Japan. The company has maintained the top spot in its category on Amazon Japan for three consecutive years. Succeeding in Japan, a market known for its stringent quality standards, underscores CuboAI’s exceptional product innovation and reliability.
The company has also built strategic partnerships with well-known local distributors, establishing a strong online and offline sales network that has driven significant revenue growth.
Tseng emphasized CuboAI’s plan to replicate its Japanese success in other key markets, including the United States, France, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia. By expanding its global presence and further strengthening its brand, CuboAI aims to solidify its position as a leader in the baby tech sector.
