TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Wuling Cherry Blossom Festival at Wuling Farm in Taichung's Heping District runs from Saturday to Feb. 23.
Wuling Farm said it planted more than 20,000 cherry blossom trees, featuring nearly 20 varieties. Peak bloom is expected in mid-February, per CNA.
The farm said that in addition to the popular peony cherry known as "Pink Lady," it showcases varieties such as shin-sumizo, shirofugen, and shogetsu. Visitors can also enjoy the plum blossoms.
The city's transport bureau said visitors can take the Fengyuan bus route 865 to the Lishan Scenic Area. After staying overnight in Lishan, they can take a cherry blossom shuttle bus to the farm.
Taichung residents are eligible for discounts on bus route 865 to Lishan. The first 10 kilometers are free, with a maximum fare of NT$10 (33 cents) for longer distances.
The highway bureau said the Kuo-Kuang bus cherry blossom shuttle service to Wuling will be suspended on Saturday and Sunday due to possible icy mountain roads. The shuttle operates three trips daily, with additional services added based on passenger demand.
Cherry blossoms are in full bloom at the city’s Basianshan National Forest Recreation Area, and the season has begun at Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area in Nantou.
