TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — New Taipei police Thursday helped a Vietnamese tourist find her daughter who was separated from her mother at Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival.
A 24-year-old Vietnamese woman surnamed Quan (關) took her 4-year-old girl to New Taipei City's Pingxi District to attend the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival, per Liberty Times. However, while sightseeing on Shifen Old Street in the afternoon, she lost sight of her daughter.
At around 3 p.m., Officer Hsieh Chih-cheng (謝志成) from the New Taipei City Police Department’s Ruifang Precinct was on duty at Shifen Old Street when Quan approached him for help.
Hsieh organized a search and Railway Police Bureau officers Hsu Yu-lun (徐毓倫) and Lin Shih-yu (林適宇) reported they had found a young girl wandering alone near Shifen Station.
They took her to the police station and dispatched officers to search for the girl's mother. Quan was found and taken to the police station where she was reunited with her daughter.
When Quan saw her daughter she reportedly burst into tears and repeatedly thanked the police.
