TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The average monthly regular salary for all employed workers in Taiwan increased by 2.77% last year, according to statistics released by the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics (DGBAS) on Monday.
The average regular salary, which includes only fixed monthly wages and excludes bonuses or overtime, reached NT$46,450 (US$1,420) in 2024. Meanwhile, the total average salary, which includes bonuses and overtime pay, stood at NT$60,984, reflecting a 4.39% increase from the previous year, per CNA.
The median regular salary, which represents the middle value in the salary distribution and is less affected by extreme values, was NT$37,274, marking a 3.29% rise from the previous year. DGBAS noted that median salary figures often provide a more accurate picture of what a typical worker earns compared to average salaries, which can be skewed by high-income earners.
When adjusted for inflation, the real average regular salary increased by 0.58%, while the real median regular salary rose by 1.09%, indicating that wage growth slightly outpaced inflation.
