TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Kuomintang (KMT) announced Tuesday that it is sending a delegation, including three former deputy defense ministers, to meet with Trump administration officials in the US.
The group aims to explain the opposition party’s foreign, defense, and cross-strait policies, per CNA. While the KMT stated it would engage in discussions with key figures in the new US government, it did not specify which administration officials it would meet.
Vice Chair Andrew Hsia (夏立言) will lead the five-member delegation. Alongside Hsia, the group includes Legislator Chen Yeong-kang (陳永康) and National Sun Yat-sen University Professor Andrew Yang (楊念祖), both of whom previously served as deputy defense ministers, according to the KMT.
Also joining the delegation are Alexander Huang (黃介正), the party’s director of international affairs, and Victor Chin (秦日新), the KMT’s representative to the US. The party said the composition of the group reflects KMT Chair Eric Chu’s (朱立倫) emphasis on defense and security issues.
The delegation is scheduled to meet with US think tanks and participate in a tabletop simulation focused on Indo-Pacific security. Following the visit, Huang and Chin will remain in the US for further discussions.
