TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's Defense Innovation Task Force announced on Monday it is seeking proposals from private enterprises for the first time for three major projects to enhance military operations and combat readiness.
The three projects are an intelligent warehouse management system, an AI-based automatic satellite image recognition, and an augmented reality smart combat system, CNA reported.
The Ministry of National Defense established the Defense Innovation Task Force in February 2024 to integrate mature and emerging private-sector technologies into military applications.
By leveraging the innovative thinking and expertise of private enterprises, the ministry aims to develop technologies and products for the armed forces while expanding the use of civilian technology solutions to address emerging defense challenges.
The task force was modeled after the US Defense Innovation Unit and is developing underwater unmanned vehicles and other UAV-related systems. It will hold briefing sessions and conduct a two-stage selection process for submitted proposals.
