TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chunghwa Telecom and the Taiwan Medical Association have formed a "smart healthcare alliance," CNA reported on Tuesday.
The alliance will use Chunghwa Telecom's network services to provide video consultations and at-home emergency care solutions for domestic medical institutions. Chunghwa Telecom President Lin Rong-syh (林榮賜) said the company has supported more than 100 smart healthcare projects in Taiwan.
The company will expand its video consultation platform, which complies with cybersecurity regulations and offers real-time recording. It said doctors only need to install simple settings to use the platform.
The platform will overcome geographical limitations to provide care for those in need. The public can access video consultations by clicking a link sent via text message.
Chunghwa Telecom's subsidiary, International Integrated Systems, developed a cloud-based healthcare information system that integrates functions for clinics, including appointment scheduling, outpatient services, and billing. It also offers staff scheduling and performance management features, helping clinics optimize resource allocation.
Lin said the alliance will also promote the electronic prescription program. Patients who finish consultations can pick up their medication at a nearby pharmacy.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare estimates that video consultation services will benefit 2.47 million people, including those requiring long-term medication, terminally ill patients, and individuals with limited mobility.
